About Gabbie

Gabbie began working with Booker Law in April 2022 as a legal assistant. As a legal assistant, her main job was to answer our phones, assist clients through the initial intake process, and help our staff with their work, which included setting clients up in our system, drafting, sending, and filing documents, ordering records, conducting research, and helping maintain communications with all our clients. In 2024, Gabbie left Booker Law to attend law school at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she will graduate in 2027.

A Word from Gabbie About Her Time at Booker Law

When I was an undergrad at Midwestern State University, I stumbled upon a posting for a legal assistant at Booker Law. At the time, I didn't think I had the time or was qualified enough to work as a legal assistant. Flash forward to two years later- and it was the best decision I could have made.

Working at Booker Law, I was able to balance my work, school work, and extracurriculars like Student Government, with the help of the attorney, Steven Booker. Steven saw my potential in law and gave me the flexibility, time, and attention to become great at the job. When I was applying for law school, the entire team helped me through my questions about law school, the LSAT, resume advice, and writing me letters of recommendation. Through them, I was able to cultivate my knowledge about different areas of law that I was interested in like Estate Planning, Probate, and Personal Injury. I also was able to attend a trial and help the lead attorney. Booker Law has given me a lot of things in the two years I worked there. It has built in me a greater passion for helping the local community, a more inquisitive mindset, and the confidence to do things that would have previously scared me: like going to law school!

Overall, working at Booker Law has been a great chapter in my life. I plan to keep in touch with my former co-workers throughout my legal career. Currently, I am attending Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, IL where I will graduate in 2027. When I think back to my initial fear of applying to the legal assistant job, I am incredibly appreciative that I applied when I did. If I were to give any undergrad or potential applicant advice, it would be to just go for it. Chase your dreams, apply for the job, and try out for the club. You can never let the fear of being bad at something keep you from trying.
